What is it?

The energy certificate is a document that qualifies the energy performance of buildings or residential unit on a scale from A+ (best performance) to G (worst performance), similar to the classification of some appliances. This document allows potential buyers or tenants to have access to a credible comparison factor when purchasing or renting a property.
The energy certificate is a 10 years valid document and is required since the 1st January 2009 for all new and used housing or services buildings in case of sale or rent. In the absence of energy certificate the building owner may be subject to a fine from €250 to €3740,98.
